Description
Hidden Pearl Berries unfolds as an organic, fluid abstraction, where washes of earthy reds, mossy greens, and soft turquoise bleed into one another across a warm, parchment-like ground. The forms feel suspended between emergence and dissolution, as if caught mid-transformation. Ink-like lines drift through the composition, sometimes guiding the eye, sometimes resisting it, suggesting an unseen structure beneath the surface.
Scattered within the layered pigments are subtle, luminous points. These “pearl berries” appear partially concealed, embedded within the body of the painting rather than placed on top of it. They feel discovered rather than declared. The textures shift from soft diffusion to granular concentration, creating a sense of depth, as though the image holds interior space rather than lying flat.
The overall form evokes something biomorphic and cosmic at once. It could be read as a seed, a planetary fragment, or a living vessel carrying information. The painting suggests a quiet offering, a gift that reveals itself only to sustained looking.
This artwork will be exhibited at Artexpo New York April 9 to April 12, 2026.
